last minute Halloween handout

Need a last minute Halloween treat handout?

I whipped up these little babies...

to give to my YW and the YM in my ward as a
thank you for helping with our church's trunk or treat tonight.

I kept it pretty simple with pop rocks and a small printable.

Here is the printable if you would like to use it.

Happy Halloween to you!

Halloween mantel

I'm sharing my Halloween mantel today.

This mantel is inspired by The Hive- my sweet friend Melissa's boutique.  I was able to go to her fall show and came home with such fun ideas and products!!

I've had this layered frame in my stash for a long time.  It was a blue damask pattern and while I loved it, I never could find a place for it.  So I gave it a coat of chalkboard paint (after seeing something like it at The Hive) and drew a little chalk spider and web on it.  For the inside, I used some cute Halloween scrapbook paper.  The little owl is an led light from Target last year.

I put my chevron art back up with a paper Halloween banner.  Also shown is my fave 31 from The Hive, and a bitty pumpkin on a handmade candlestick.

Since I'm loving the chalkboard so much right now (and always) I covered this frame from my stash with paint too.  I framed some more scrapbook paper and hand wrote a little Halloween greeting on there.  The candle (Target last year) lights up too.

For the banners I used the black, glittery felt triangle one from my daughter's Harry Potter party.  Then I sewed a quick paper banner with orange circles and a bat punch.

I just realized Halloween is a little over a week away and I still don't have costumes for my kids.  EEK!  I better go get busy on them!

Friday catch up 10-18

Another week has come and gone!  It's crazy how fast time has gone.  I can't believe October is already more than half over.

Here is some of the things we've been up to:

I got stung by a bee.
I was at the park with my kids and a bee crawled right under my arm and ended up stinging me just outside my arm pit.  Inconvenient huh?  It barely even hurt at the time.  But 2 days later had spread to almost the entire back of my arm and was crazy itchy.  So I took a quick trip to the dr for antihistamines and steroids.  I'm feeling much better and I'll be more careful around bees in the future!

I tried out the Pioneer Woman's mac and cheese.  It was super yummy!!

I posted about some Halloween chalkboards I did.

I went to a ladies game night at my church that my talented friend Emily planned, decorated and cooked for.  She did a fantastic job and we all had a blast!

My little guy had his first Kindergarten field trip at a local farm/pumpkin patch.  It was crazy cold and rainy, but we had a bunch of fun!

What have you been up to this week?

Halloween chalkboard wall art

I know chalkboards have been around forever, but I'm still in love with the trend.  In fact, I don't even think of chalkboard as a trend anymore, it's more of a mainstay in my home!  I love them more now then ever before.

Anyway- when it came time to put up my Halloween decor, I wanted to add some chalkboard.

I was inspired to do chalkboard plaques when I found this page in the Halloween issue of Matthew Mead's magazine.

I picked up various sizes of blank wooden plaques at a craft store.  Here's an amazon link to something similar.  I gave them a few coats of chalkboard paint.  I drew simple words and shapes on them and hung them up using my FAVE command picture hanging strips.  Easy Peasy!

I hung the chalkboard plaques all in a row with a magnetic perpetual calendar I made years ago.

It's made with various magnetic numbers made with cardstock, stickers and other embellishments.  My kids LOVE this and fight every morning who is going to put the next number up.  We have one for November and December too.

Halloween wreath

I love a holiday wreath hanging on my front door!

Here is this year's Halloween wreath!

It's quite simple.  But that's just the way I like it!

It started with a black wreath.  It's actually one I used before I just took all of the other stuff off of it.

I had a bunch of orange tulle in my fabric stash.  It's leftover from last years Halloween projects.  It was cut from a bolt so I think I had around 1/2 yard left and it was about 50 inches wide or so.  I folded it in half length wise and then in half again so that it was about 12 inches wide.  Then I just scrunched it up in the middle and tied it with a spare piece of tulle.

It became a really fluffy ball of orange tulle that I tied onto the wreath.  Then I stuck 2 orange and black glittery pics on either side, and tied a longer piece of tulle around the top for a hanger.

Here is the wreath on my front door.

Here is the view of my front porch.

It's not fall without pumpkins and mums!!

Halloween and Fall display

My blogging friends and I are back today with an All Things Fall theme. It gave me just the boost I needed to pull out my Fall/Halloween decorations. I got 1 small corner of my house decorated. I mixed some Halloween and Fall in with some vintage things I already had. It's a little bit eclectic and I like it lots!

Friday catch up

Another week has come and gone.  Here is what I've been up to:

We had a birthday party for our littlest guy.  We kept it pretty simple since it was 5 little boys.  They pretty much just played outside (wrestling on the tramp) the entire time.

His favorite gift was these TMNT swords.

On Sunday I helped with our Young Women's lesson.

On Sunday afternoon we did our usual activities- bake cookies and wrestle on the kitchen floor.

My cousin came to TN from UT and we were able to spend the day at the Country Music Hall of Fame.  If you ever have a chance to go, you should.  It was AWESOME!!

I had to have a root canal this week.  Boo.  It still hurts.  Boo again!!

I put up some Halloween decorations.  I will be blogging about this soon.

What have you been up to this week?
