ribbon storage

In my craft room I have tons of ribbon.  I love all patterns and colors!!
Because of my vast collection, I've had to come up with many
different ways to store my precious!!

Yes, this is a huge ribbon collection.  Yes, I may have a problem!

First of all, I store spools of ribbon on this mug tree.
(that's an amazon affiliate link)

For the larger spools that wouldn't fit on the mug tree, I made dowel holders.

I simply drilled a hole into a circle plaque about the width of my dowel, then put some wood glue into the hole, and stuck the dowel in.  It worked really well!

Lastly for loose ribbons, I store them by color in large cookie jars.
I have an entire collection of these jars.

I painted my craft room last week and am hoping to post some updated photos soon.

Gallery Wall

Do you love gallery walls?  I do.  Lots!!!

I just finished a gallery in our playroom.

I used a variety of things I had around my house in this bright and colorful collage.

My love affair with all things vintage started with this window with the original mint paint.
For this display, I put some favorite instagram photos and a washi tape banner onto it.
Above the window is some vintage sign letters I bought at the Nashville Flea Market.

I recently found the photos of when each of my kids were blessed as babies, and  put them into this frame.
I love this piece so much!!

I picked up this vintage cash register drawer at a junk shop here in the Nashville area a few years ago.
The banner underneath is scrapbook paper hung on bakers twine and taped to the wall.
How's that for a high tech hanging solution!?!

I was able to use my South sign (from my Utah trip).  I also framed some scrapbook paper and some favorite photos of my kids.  The red 5 sign was a gift from my sister- in-law.  I also printed off some favorite quotes and hung them on small clipboards too.

If I were to give advice on how to do a gallery wall, I would say just give it a shot.
Hang a few things, move around what isn't working, add to it, and take a few things away.  Mostly, just make sure to use things that have meaning to you and that you love!!

I love...decorating with family photos and a blog hop

Since this is the month of love, my blogging friends and I are doing this month's blog hop with the theme of things we LOVE.

The thing I love... decorating with family photos.

Being surrounded with photos of loved ones is one of my favorite things in the entire world.  I especially love it if I can find a different way to display said photos other than simple frames.

In our living room, I used chicken wire message boards to hang our family photos.

For our family photo, I mounted it in a regular photo frame, and then mounted that on an aged board to give it more presence.

I have also decorated with family photos all around my house.

These 2 displays are in our Master bedroom.

We have these foot photos in our hall. That may sound weird to do feet photos, but I love it!!

For our framed family photos, we have a little nook with shelves.

And lastly, we have this message board that holds smaller snap-shot photos.

Before you go, make sure to check out all of the things my blogging buds LOVE!  There are lots of splendid ideas and recipes here!!

Valentine's Mantel

I'm back to show you our Valentine's Mantel.

It's simple with red and gold.  I like it!

I handmade the arrow from gold canvas and a dowel.  It's inspired by this one.

I made this Valentine's artwork a few years ago.

The red frame is a clearance Hobby Lobby find.  The gold chevron paper is from Target.  The gold polka dot board is from my Christmas and New Year's Mantels.

The love clip frame is a Target clearance find.
I added the heart paper and a gold glitter heart.

And there the entire mantel with my heart bouquet.

Heart Bouquet for Valentine's Day

It's February and LOVE is in the air!
This month is so fun to spread Love everywhere!!

I made this simple and whimsical heart bouquet for Valentine's Day.

I used red and white pipe cleaners, red polka dot straws and large heart confetti.

I free hand bent some of the pipe cleaners into heart shapes and stuck the stems into the straws to hold them up.  I also taped the confetti onto the end of a few stems.

I stuck the hearts into a vase that is dressed up with a glittery heart, a doily and some bakers twine.

It's a simple touch on my Valentine's Day Mantle I'll be showing in the next post!
