gangster (I'm kinda scared to see what this means!!).

Halloween treat jar
Today I'm sharing this treat jar!
It would make a fun neighbor, friend or teacher gift!
I found these cute little bottles in the dollar section at Target.
The sticky gemstones are from Hobby Lobby.
I free handed the spiderweb. I made an X with a line through the middle of it.
Then I did circles around the X. Simple!
The gemstones are really easy to trim down with a pair of scissors.
I filled the jar with a fave Halloween treat- CANDY CORN! Yum!
I'll be making a few more to hand out this year!!
Halloween Mantel
Today I'm sharing my Halloween mantel.

light up mercury glass owl- Target (old)
yarn pumpkin- I just grabbed a pile of yarn (left over from the yarn garland on my mantel) sitting on my desk, wrapped it around itself, and stuck in a toothpick with some green washi tape at the top.

feather garland- pattern from here, printed out on book page paper and cut out

Glittery Halloween feathers
Today I'm sharing a fun Halloween decorations post...
Glittery, Halloween feathers.
I picked up some featherss, black and white with black tips, from the craft store.
I dipped them in glue (this tacky glue is my favorite for craft projects)
that is amazon link
Then I sprinkled on some glitter and let the glue dry.
For jar filler, I used lentils and beans from the grocery store.
I embellished the jar with a Halloween card and ribbon.

Halloween Candle Jars
I found these glass vases at Goodwill for $1 each. Woot!!
I found some cute die cuts in the Silhouette store, sized them to fit my vases, cut the designs out of black vinyl and applied them to the vases.
If you don't have a die cutting machine, you could use an exacto knife to do the same thing. Just make sure to turn on some Netflix while you do your cutting!
For fillers, I used beans and lentils from the grocery store.
For candles, I used battery operated tea lights from the dollar store.

Meet the Mormon
We belong to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints otherwise known as "The Mormons". We are proud of this part of who we are! We are excited to team up with over 65+ of us strong... to extend an invitation to see a film. A film entitled "Meet The Mormons". This film is not meant to be an "in your face" - you must join our church film. It is simply designed and produced to uplift and inspire you through six stories of those of our faith who have followed promptings to follow Christ more fully in their lives. We hope you take the opportunity to enjoy this film. We hope your hearts are made light as you feel the goodness that comes from following our Christ and Savior. All proceeds from the film will be donated to The American Red Cross. So not only will you be uplifted and inspired, your money will be going to an amazing charity!! See the trailer here.
We also would like to take a moment and share our personal testimonies, stories of our own personal conversions, and our own stories of how following our Savior, Jesus Christ has changed our lives. The light of the gospel of Jesus Christ offers a joy and hope that only following him can provide. Hello, my name is Candice, and I'm a member of the
Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, you know, the Mormons.
I haven't shared much about my religion, and normally I don't get too personal on this here crafting blog, but today I want to share my testimony with you. First of all I have to tell you my story.

My great grandfather's great grandfather was Phineas Young, the brother of Brigham Young. So my family has pretty much been a part of the church since the beginning. I've heard it said that I am from "Pioneer Stock." I grew up in a small town in Utah that was predominately Mormon. I was blessed as a baby by my great grandfather and was baptized and confirmed a member of the Church at 8 years old by my father. I attended Primary and Young Women's.
I met my husband when I was 21 years old. We were both working at a local hospital. He wasn't a member of the church, but I wasn't going to church at that point so it didn't seem like that big of deal.
We got married in Las Vegas.

After a year of marriage, we bought a new house and I decided to get my act together and get back to church in my new ward. It was hard walking into a church where I didn't know anyone but I knew it was where I needed to be. My husband wasn't interested in going to church, but he was supportive of me going. Our first two children were born shortly thereafter and were both blessed by the Bishop of my ward. (PS a ward is a church congregation based on geographical location) I was happy going to church and I grew a lot in that ward. I got to know and love people outside of the town I grew up in and made lasting friendships.
After 2 years, my husband got a new job working in Nashville. We luckily found a buyer for our house right away, so we had our stuff packed up and shipped to Nashville. We found a house in a town outside of Nashville and were all ready to move. Unfortunately at the last minute, the sale of our house in Utah fell through. My husband had to move to Nashville without us.
I was left in Utah with 2 small children (1 and 2 years old), no stuff in our house and no husband.
My kids and I moved in with my mom, which turned out to be a blessing since she became ill and needed the help. To say this was a trying time is an understatement!! Day to day living with 2 small children is difficult. Add in a sick family member, an out of state spouse and housing issues- life was hard and I was a mess!! It was an absolute trial of my faith. I struggled with everything, including going to church. No one would have known if we had stayed home from church. My mom was too sick to know if I skipped. It was then and there that I had to decide. It was up to me to take my family to church or not. I could no longer rely on the testimony of anyone else but myself. Even though I had been a member of the church my entire life, I had to be converted and make the choice for ME! I can't even count the number of times I got down on my knees to ask my Father in Heaven for help and guidance. At the time I wasn't sure he was answering my prayers. It's only looking back on this time that I see how my family was loved and guided to make decisions.
Our family lived this way for about a year before selling our house, and FINALLY moving to Nashville.
We bought a house in a different part of the same city outside of Nashville. I had never lived outside of Utah before and was completely homesick. I was in a new area where I knew no one and nothing. I had to find new friends, doctors, grocery store, trash pick up, utilities, etc. Everything in the South is so different from what I was used to. After being in Nashville about a week, I found our local church building. It was a weeknight and I knew there would be activities so I went inside the church. I immediately felt comfort and peace. Even if the area we were living in was different than what I was used to, the church was the same. It even had the same scratchy, carpet stuff on the walls!! Being a member of the church meant I had some things in common with some people in Nashville. It was a built in support system, a home away from home. I don't know how I would have survived the transition without my ward family.
About 2 years after moving to TN, 2 special things happened.
1-A missionary from Provo, Utah was transferred into our ward.
2-Another family from Utah moved into our ward.
These 2 things played a gigantic roll in my family's future.
My husband, while not outright mean, was never interested AT ALL in meeting any member of my church. Ever. When I had people over, he would go upstairs or run an errand. But when the new family moved in, he was interested in meeting them. They had us over for dinner and we all hit it off. The husband of that family invited my husband to play football with church people the following weekend. Surprisingly he agreed. At that game, he met the missionaries. Now these are the same missionaries I had invited for dinner on many previous occasions and had gotten to know and love. After a few weeks of playing football with Chris, the missionaries invited him to take the discussions and HE AGREED! Our ward friend came with the missionaries for dinner and the first discussion. I think they were here for about 4 hours. My husband had so many questions and was so eager to hear the answers. After a long and powerful discussion with the missionaries, they challenged him to be baptized and he accepted.
My husband was baptized by that little missionary from Utah about a month later.
So many people helped make this possible!!
I know that our Father in Heaven put the family and the missionary from Utah
in our path at the right time,
when my husband was ready to hear about the Gospel.
Almost a year to the date after my husband's baptism, our family was sealed for
Time and All Eternity in the Nashville LDS Temple.
This means that after this life is over, my family and I will still be able to live together!
I know that my Heavenly Father heard and answered the prayers that I spoke out loud
and the prayers of my heart.
I know that even though I still struggle with challenges, face set backs and
disappointments that my Heavenly Father is there for me.
I know how very blessed I am.
I know that Jesus is the Christ, that he died for all of our sins.
Not only did he suffer to take away our sins, but he walks beside us in our times of trial.
Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ have a plan for each of us.
Our prayers are always answered.
Not it the way we want, or necessarily in the time frame we want,
but always in a way that is best for us.
I know that we can speak to our Heavenly Father any time we want.
He is always there to listen and to comfort. All we have to do is pray.
I know this because I have prayed!!!
This Gospel brings so much joy and peace into my life.
We are not promised that we will never struggle, we are promised that
we will not have to struggle alone.
I know that will all of my heart!
I know the Book of Mormon is true.
I know this because I have read it!

Why in the world would I share something like this on a crafting blog?
Well, it's the same reason I share projects here.
I have tried something that I like and want to share.
I have something in my life that brings me immense joy.
