Easy Holiday decorating ideas for Valentine's Day

It's no secret that I love decorating for holidays.
Today I'm sharing my top holiday decorating tips!

ideas to decorate for the holidays

1.  use what you have on hand

valentines hearts in jars, jar filler

I've had these styrofoam hearts for a while.
I invested about $3 (big spender) at the dollar store quite a few years ago,
and have been using them in different ways each year.

2.  use what you have in different ways

In this vignette, I didn't buy anything new.
OK, I guess I did fill the jars with 2 bags of conversation hearts
that I bought from the dollar store.

For other jar fillers, I used
 red glitter Styrofoam hearts
(from Hobby Lobby years ago)
and red, silver and white glitter balls from my Christmas decor.

On top of the hutch, I used one of my vintage chalkboards,
along with a vintage chicken feeder filled with Styrofoam hearts.

3.  use free printables or make your own

I found the darling cassette printable for free here.

I put it on a clipboard for my mantel.

I also used a mini light box.
I used a blank insert to write my own message.

4.  if you do buy, buy it on sale or even clearance for the next year

On my mantel, I used a laser cut wooden heart that I bought for 1/2 off at Joann.
It cost a whopping $2.

I also punched hearts from cardstock
and stitched them together on my sewing machine.
