Today I'm sharing something very important to me! It is How I Find Peace through Gratitude.

How I find peace through Gratitude #princeofpeace

Life is messy.

Ways to find Peace through Gratitude

Not just a messy craft room.  Messy with business, chaos, and negativity.  The more crazy there is in my life, the less peace I feel.  I am also naturally high strung and worry about everything.

Sometimes I look around and see others that have more than I do.  They have nicer homes that are never dirty.  They have happy families that never fight.  They always have enough time to cook healthy meals, work out, volunteer with their children and serve.  Sometimes I feel less than.  Comparison is a terrible, ugly trap.  Even though I know this, I still do it. #human

Ways to find Peace through Gratitude- mom, life, family

I am in a very busy season of life.  My kids are in school, but that doesn't give me the "time off" like I thought it would.  Most of my time is spent serving others.  Whether I'm serving my own family by cooking, cleaning, grocery shopping, chauffeuring, or helping with last minute school projects, or serving others in my calling at church, or being available so my husband can serve at church, I spend a lot of time doing and being on call.  All of these factors together can lead to me getting down, sad, and tired.  Frankly, I feel sorry for myself.  And when that happens, my energy, productivity and self esteem all tank.

Use Gratitude to pull yourself from a funk

We all have times that we focus on what we lack, instead of the blessings that we have.  Do you want to know what pulls me out of this funk? Gratitude.  It's simple solution, but not always easy to do.

President Monson, the leader of my church, the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints says, "We can lift ourselves and others as well when we refuse to remain in the realm of negative thought and cultivate within our hearts an attitude of gratitude."  I love the "refuse to remain in the realm of negative thought."  Our thoughts and the direction we let them go,  have a huge impact on our feelings and attitude.

The more we concentrate on the things we don't have, whether it's a bigger/nicer house, or illness, or being too busy or whatever our challenge is, the worse we feel.  In 1 Thessalonians 5:18, we read, "In everything give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you."

When we count our blessings, we concentrate on everything that we HAVE, and that changes our perspective, our thoughts and attitudes and our countenance.

Ways to find Peace through Gratitude

We all have something to be grateful for-  sunshine, beautiful flowers, rain to water crops, plants and flowers, our family, our jobs and most of all, our Heavenly Father and Savior, Jesus Christ.

How to show Gratitude

So how do we show Gratitude? Well of course, we say thank you to those around us.  But digging even deeper, cultivating Gratitude within our hearts can bring such joy and contentment.

Ways to find Peace through Gratitude while journaling

For me, I  like to grab one of my journals, (I always have quite a few to choose from) and spend some time reflecting on my day.  I write down the things I am grateful for because the more time I spend in my head and my heart feeling gratitude, the better I feel.

No matter what kind of day I have had,  there is always something to be grateful for.  Whether it's my comfy bed at the end of the day, or my husband cleaning up the dinner dishes.  These are all things I write down in my journal.

The more I train my mind to think of all of my blessings, the more I recognize the abundance of what I have received.

Ways to find Peace through Gratitude: families are forever, family gratitude, family photo, eternal family

I am grateful for my husband, my sweet kiddos, my extended family and friends.  I am grateful for talents, good health, an able body, and the ability to be a stay at home mom who is available when my kids are sick or have an early dismissal from school.  Being grateful brings such a spirit of Peace!

gratitude, peace, Jesus Christ, #princeofpeace

At this Easter time, and always, I am very full of gratitude for our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. He is always there for us.  He feels our pains.  He knows of our struggles.  All we have to do is reach out to him.
  • He taught us how to pray.
  • He taught us how to live.
  • His life is a legacy of love.
  • He is our Savior who lived and died for us.
