Last year was a great year in Come Follow Me! We were able to study the Doctrine and Covenants and Church History. I grew up in the church so I've heard the account of the first vision many times. But the in depth discussion we did helped me to learn new things that I'd never heard or thought of before.
I also loved reading Revelations in Context. If you haven't read Saints volumes 1 & 2 yet, I highly suggest you do. It gives insight into the context, aka makes the stories so much more understandable.
One of my favorite parts of reading the scriptures is marking them. I used to carry my paper scritptures and leave writing in the margins and handouts in the pages. Now I mark my digital scriptures in similar ways. Each year I choose a different highlight color. Then I mark scriptures that inspire me and write my thoughts in the notes. I look forward to those notes enriching my D&C readings for years to come!
