Poor neglected blog

tap...tap...tap...anyone out there? It's been a while. I have all the normal excuses, I've been busy, my dh has been on a business trip for 7 weeks of the past 9 and my kids are home for the summer. Blah, Blah, Blah! It's been crazy! But I'm sure we've all had busy summers, right?

I'm taking a Jenni Bowlin class at Big Picture Scrapbooking. It's about reusing and reinventing. Jenni is the queen of just that and I love her! She lives here in TN and I've taken quite a few classes from her at our lss. I've even been to a yard sale at her house and she was nice enough to let us inside when my daughter needed to go to the bathroom. Anyway- last weekend, My friend Joanna and I, loaded up our 5 kids (We received a lot of crazy looks and sympathetic nods for having our kids with us. One man looked at me and said, "Lord have mercy." I say Amen to that.) and went to the Nashville Flea Market. And who should I run into- Jenni!
Normally I wouldn't have bought someone else's pictures. But after seeing some of the things Jenni has done, I bought an entire bundle of some. They are in the coolest folio's. And some of the paper work that came in the bundle is from the late 1920's-early 1930's. I'm going to make some collages with them.
I also got some cool forks with great patina to make some picture holders, (yea, I already broke both of them trying to bend the tines. I need more to try again) a floral frog and an enamelware tray. There was so much great stuff there! So much! I can't wait to go back next month, when our kids are back in school!

Independance Day

As far as I'm concerned, any holiday is an excuse to do some decorating. Indepedance day snuck up on me and I only just now got my red, white and blue items out to display. Might have to keep them up for a few weeks. We celebrate the entire month, right?

Let's start of with a little flag love on the kitchen window sill. Please ignore the ice cream scoop. That is pretty much it's permanent spot since my dh has ice cream each night before bed and just rinses the scoop off.

Moving into the dining area.

This blurry shot is of the flag holder thingy in the living room.

This fabric star is on the shelf right inside our front door.

I got these felt stars in a package from Joann. I just stiched some of the corners together to make a little mat for the plant on the kitchen table.

Even the outside got in on the decorating action. This flag is in the front garden. Ok it's the only garden.

And the front door- with a star bought today from BlackLion. I tied a few ribbons around the top.
I hope everyone has a fun and safe 4th of July!
