state tshirt tutorial

State T-shirts are all over the place right now.
I love the state pride everyone has!!

I saw a super cute TN tshirt in a little boutique last week and it inspired me to DIY one.

I started with a plain pink Tshirt.
I also used a plain grey one.

For the applique on the pink shirt I used some floral fabric
from an outgrown shirt I had sitting around.

For the grey one I used an aqua bandanna.

I googled TN images and found this outline.

I used heat and bond to adhere the applique.

I cut a piece of  heat and bond to size and ironed it onto the wrong side of my fabric piece.
Then I cut out the TN shape and cut it out of the heat and bonded fabric.

Then I peeled of the paper backing and ironed the TN onto the tshirt.

Using my sewing machine, I zig zag stitched around the TN applique.
On the pink Tshirt I used white thread.
White thread wasn't a strong enough contrast for the grey Tshirt
so I used hot pink thread.

Yay!  Now I have 2 state Tshirts of my very own!!
