I love sharing all kinds of things
on this blog, but holiday
decorations will always have my heart!
It's so fun to celebrate the little
things in life!
The best part of holiday decorating for me
is creatively using items that I already have
or that are very inexpensive!
For the centerpiece on my dining room table
(see a tutorial for how I refinished it here)
I grabbed a glass jar, cut hearts from dictionary paper,
and tied some ribbon around it.
I filled the jar with white beans
and a white candle.
I sat the glass candle jar on a vintage red shutter.
Tip- I always put felt pads on the bottom of
items going on my table.
I also grabbed some metal
candle holders from my stash.
For my mantel,
I bought the LOVE banner (this year)
and the ticking banner (last year, I think)
from Target dollar spot.
For the paper heart banner,
I punched hearts from dictionary paper.
Then glued* them with double stick tape on twine.
I made the Love sign
with a piece of wood.
It's actually a wooden sign that
I turned to the back side.
I taped a rectangle with painters tape*
and painted it with black acrylic paint.
Then I used a *paint pen to write Love
and draw hearts.
I added some fairy lights*.
I love these lights so very much!
And that they are controlled by a remote...
LOVE!
I added my favorite spindle candlesticks too.
On the other side of the room
is my farmhouse shelving unit.
I used mostly all items I had on hand here as well.
I hung my wooden name sign
above the shelves.
I put some candy and glitter hearts in jars,
put the jars in an old tool box
some Valentine flags in a soda bottle.
I put my vintage gumball machine
(still full of Christmas candy- oops)
along with a wire basket filled with hearts, love sign
and a toy truck that was
my husband's when he was small.
I get a lot of holiday bang for my buck
when using my light box*.
