I'm sure you have piles and piles of papers littering the surfaces of your home and your fridge is probably full of schedules, calendars, notes, and all the papers that need attention.
I despise paper clutter!
To Combat Paper Clutter
I take photos of papers that I want/need to remember such as art projects made by my kids, sports schedules, report cards, calendars, etc. I save the important documents on a note in my phone, and transfer the photos to my kids' albums on my computer.
For all of the papers that cannot be thrown away, I devised a system to keep them under control and not cluttering the front of the fridge.
Our back entry is mostly just a little walkway that has our laundry nook, leads to a bathroom in one direction and our kitchen in the other direction. It's rather embarrassing to show a before photo. It's the only room in our house that was still builder beige. We use this entrance every single day, but I really hadn't done much in here. At one point I started adding, but never finished, red chevron paint on the door (shaking my head).
First of all, I cleaned up all of the mess and painted 3 of the walls and the door a fresh white.
One wall, I added chalkboard paint.
I spray painted the light switch cover black. And used a sharpie to color the screws.
I had some vintage clipboards in my stash, full of worn patina that I love! You could also use these.
I hung them on the chalkboard wall with command velcro, then wrote messages for my family
on the chalkboard wall.
I made tags with my kids initials from wooden squares and ball chain.
For a key holder- I screwed a piece of weathered wood into the wall and added black cup hooks.
This little spot is the perfect place to leave a note or grab a paper as we are walking out the door.
The white paint really freshened up the space!
I'm really happy with how it turned out! See more Laundry Closet Redo
