It's always at this time of year that I can't wait to get outside. Even though winter isn't terribly cold in here in TN, it does get pretty chilly. And all of the plants go into hibernation making everything outside so brown. So once the temps start warming up, the days get a bit longer, and nature shows off with green foliage! It makes Spring so inviting! In order to bring some of that lovely green inside, I made DIY Spring Botanical Art. It was a simple project that costs very little and will only take an hour to do!
Supplies needed for DIY Spring Botanical Art
- lightweight photo frames with thin glass- I found these at Dollar Tree
- faux greenery
- gold duct tape
- glue gun
I'm sure you can figure out how to make these - obvi just sandwich the greenery between the panes of glass. After having to redo several failed attempts, here are my hints for best results
Instructions for making DIY botanical art
- remove packaging and backing from 2 frames of the same size
- discard frames leaving 2 pieces of glass
- set 1 piece on work surface
- cut faux leaves from stems
- trim leaves and arrange to fit onto glass
- glue leaves onto glass with a dab of hot glue
- set 2nd piece of glass on top of leaves
- flip pieces of glass so back side of leaves are up
- cut strip of gold duct tape to 1/2 of width
- press tape onto sides of frame and wrap around to back
- repeat on all 4 sides of the glass so the tape holds the 2 pieces of glass together
I used my Vintage Ruler Photo Holder to hold the botanical prints.
This is such a fun easy to do project! It only takes a few supplies and just a little bit of time and you can have art that showcases the beauty of nature. Make this DIY Botanical Art for Spring today!
