It's the details that make holidays so special, and I'm all about the details. I love taking the time to set a special table for Thanksgiving. I host Thanksgiving each year, so I have been contemplating my Thanksgiving table. I decided that I wanted to combine cute little appetizer bowls with place cards.
I made appetizer bowls for my Halloween table, and thought they'd be super fun for Thanksgiving too.
How to make Thanksgiving Appetizer Bowls and Place Cards
Gather Supplies
This is a very cost effective project so you can spend your money on the good stuff - the FOOD!
- mini glass bowls or pick up a pack of 4 at the dollar store
- black vinyl
- etched glass vinyl
- wooden clothespins
- mini clothespins
- glue dots
- circle punch
- turkey stickers (similar)
- leaf stickers
- dowels, book page paper
Appetizer Bowls
DIY Instructions
- Wash glass bowls to remove grease so the vinyl will stick.
- Cut vinyl. If you are applying vinyl to the bottom of the bowls, don't forget the mirror the vinyl before cutting. I placed black vinyl on the bottom of some of the bowls. I also used etched vinyl that was placed on the inside rim of the other bowls.
- I also placed cut leaves on the bottom of some of the bowls too.
You can put the appetizer bowls onto your Thanksgiving place settings as a place to store some treats!
Place Cards
I grabbed leaf stickers and felt turkeys from the craft store and whipped up some simple place cards that took about 5 minutes.
Leaf Place Card
- punch circle from book page paper with circle punch
- write name and lines around circle with a marker
- place leaf sticker in the middle
- use a glue dot to attach circle to a clothespin
- attach clothespin to appetizer bowls
Turkey Place Cards
- cut down a dowel to about 3 inches
- cut a strip of book page paper to about 5 inches by 1 inch
- fold around the top of the dowel and glue
- write name on flag
- cut triangle out of end of flag
- stick dowel in between felt layers and secure with a glue dot
- use several glue dots to attach turkey to clothes pin
- place turkey clothes pin on appetizer bowl on Thanksgiving Place Settings
These Thanksgiving Appetizer Bowls and Place Cards are so fun and easy to make. So even if you love all of the details of setting a pretty Thanksgiving table with special touches, it doesn't have to cost a lot or take much time.
