It's no secret that I love to decorate my home for the holidays!  And each holiday I like to challenge myself to decorate my home in creative and inexpensive ways, since creative and inexpensive are what I am all about!

How to make a Paper Heart Banner

Making a paper heart banner is such an easy project!  It only requires a few items:

First thing to do is punch hearts from red paper.   If you don't have a paper punch, you can cut them out by hand with scissors.  It may take a while, but you can cut them while you're watching Netflix one evening.

After you have a bunch of hearts cut out, them you can run them through your sewing machine.  Yes, you can sew them just like you can fabric.  If you don't have a sewing machine, you can glue a heart to some twine or yarn then glue another heart to the another side.  Like a heart sandwich with the string in the center.

To begin sewing the hearts on the machine, put the presser foot down, then press the pedal, pulling the thread out the back.  Then feed a heart punch underneath the presser foot.  Repeat again and again.  I fed the hearts into the sewing machine in random directions.

Keep going until your heart banner is a long as you want- or you run out of hearts, whichever comes first.  When you're done, pull the banner out from the sewing machine, to leave a little bit of thread slack and trim the ends.

How to Decorate with a Paper Heart Banner

Now comes the fun part- decorating!   I had so much fun placing heart banners around my house, I practically couldn't stop.  In fact, I may go back and add some more.

The first place I put a Paper Heart Banner is around a boxwood wreath in my living room.  I made the wreath and will do a tutorial for it soon.

It makes the perfect Valentine vignette with my collection of Candy Boxes, Heart Stuffies and other assorted Valentine's décor items.

I draped a Paper Heart Banner across our name sign in the dining room.  It adds a tiny bit of love flair to this spot.

I also placed a Paper Heart Banner across the Dish Rack in our kitchen.   Like the name sign in our dining room, the banner adds a touch of Love to our kitchen.
