Like I said in my Spring Home Tour post, I'm really into the vintage garden vibe this year.  So I decided to make a little chicken wire cloche to cover a small flower arrangement.

How to Make a Chicken Wire Cloche

A cloche makes a great addition to Spring home décor.  It looks good and it is great to place over the top of a plant to keep it safe from kids or animals.

This is such an easy project.  You may not even need to buy any supplies - I had these supplies in my garage.

How to make a chicken wire cloche - unroll chicken wire

Unroll the roll of chicken wire.  Measure how much you need by placing it around the saucer, then trim the chicken wire by snipping it with wire cutters.

How to make a chicken wire cloche - shape chicken wire into cylinder

Shape the chicken wire into a cylinder, while wearing your gloves.  The chicken wire is super sharp.  I may or may not have figured that out by poking myself,  s e v e r a l  times.

Once you get the chicken wire cylinder in the size and shape that you want, start bending the wires around each other to attach them.

Since the wire is so sharp (see above), use needle nose pliers to bend the wires.

I shaped the dome by hand.  I just moved the wires around until I was happy with the rounded shape.

Then I placed it on the plate to make sure it fit well.  And it does!  I'm super happy with how it turned out.  Now if you're not comfortable shaping it by hand, you can use a bowl or a bottle as a guide.

I placed a small bottle filled with dried Billy Balls on a ceramic candle holder that I'm using as a riser and then placed the chicken wire cloche over the top.
