Thanksgiving is 2 weeks from tomorrow.  So if you're hosting like I am, it's time to plan your place cards and table setting.  But don't you worry, I have some super easy ideas.  And like most of my projects, they hardly cost anything.

Thanksgiving Place Cards and Place Card Holders

I know place cards might be a little unnecessary, but I think they add a personal and most importantly decorative touch to a Thanksgiving table.

Thanksgiving place cards from kraft tags.

Name Place Cards:  To make the place cards, I used kraft tags and I dusted off my letter stamps and a leaf rubber stamp. I used black ink for the letters and brown ink for the leaves.

I stamped all of my guests name onto the tags.  I stamped them all horizontally, then decided it looked better vertically.  Once the names were on the tags, I used the leaf stamp to go over and around the name.

Table legs repurposed into place card holders.

Place Card Holders:  To make the wooden block place card holders, I repurposed old table legs from my stash.

Use miter saw to cut down table legs to make place card holder.

I cut down the legs into 2 inch blocks with my miter saw.  The edges were a little rough, so I sanded them down with my mouse sander.  If you don't have repurposed table legs, you can use pre cut wooden blocks.

Use a hand saw to make a channel in a wooden block.

To make the channel for the place cards, I clamped the wooden block to my work table.  I cut a channel into the block with a hand saw.  This is the same thing I did to make a calendar holder.

I tied a scrap of fabric through the hole of the tag then placed it into the place card holder.

Thanksgiving Table Setting

I love making a table settings.  I always want to do them big and over the top but I also have to be practical.  So for this table setting, I used kraft paper as a table runner.  I love using wrapper paper as a table runner.  It's pretty and disposable.

On top of the wrapper paper runner, I put my Thanksgiving Trivet.  On top of it a placed a jar of faux leaves and candle sticks.  I always put candle sticks on my table because I love the light of candles!

For each place setting, I used a rattan charger, our every day white dishes, a buffalo check fabric napkin, and cinnamon pumpkins on a ironstone butter pat.

Using a few things you probably have on hand, or things that you can easily order from our favorite online retailer, you can make Thanksgiving Place Cards and a fun Table Setting.
