Valentine's Day is just around the corner.  I know it's not a holiday that everyone celebrates and that's ok.  I choose to celebrate everything because it makes life more fun!

For this project, I decided to make a riser to elevate glass jars full of delicious Valentine candy!

Supplies used to make a Heart Riser.

Supplies Needed to Make a Heart Riser Candy Display

To make this heart riser, I used a wooden heart found a heart at the Target Dollar Spot.  I also grabbed a scrap 2 x 2 piece of wood and cut it down into 2 inch pieces.

I unwrapped the heart and cut off the hanging string.  Then I traced the shape of the heart onto the patterned paper and cut it out.  To make it fit perfectly onto the heart, I slightly sanded the edges of the paper.

I attached the paper heart to the wood heart by brushing on mod podge.  I'm sure there are professional ways to do this so the paper doesn't bubble and the mod podge doesn't streak.  But I'm more of a done is better than perfect kinda gal so I just slopped the glue on and let it dry.  And it worked just fine.  Maybe don't look really closely at it though, ok?

Hot glue feet onto heart to make a heart riser

I used my hot glue gun to attach the wood feet to the bottom of the heart.  To make sure that all of the legs are on the heart evenly, I glob the hot glue onto the wood, place it onto the heart, then flip the heart over and place a heavy book onto it while the glue dries.  This ensures that the riser will not be wobbly.

The riser is now done and ready for it's accessories.  I grabbed some glass jars from my cupboard and filled them up with Valentine Candy.

I felt pretty lucky to find this candy since the shelves are kind of empty in the seasonal department of the grocery store.  Have you noticed that in your store?  Must be supply chain issues.

I placed this little display in our dining room.  I am a total candy-a-holic and am wondering how long this candy will last before I eat it all.  Probably not very long.

How cute did this little display turn out?  The riser was super easy to make and took less than an hour including the drying time of the mod podge.  I love the candy jars sitting there waiting for little hands (or my hands) to grab a treat!  Use these instructions to make a Heart Riser for Valentine's Day.
