Last year was a great year for Come Follow Me. I learned so much about the Old Testament! Tow of the big takeaways I had were:
- The Old Testament isn't nearly as boring as I used to think it was.
- The God of the Old Testament isn't a hellfire and damnation God, like is sometimes portrayed. He is the same loving Heavenly Father that I know and love.
I love how we went through the Old Testament carefully and read so many stories and lessons that apply to us today! The Come Follow Me manual states, "The Old Testament is one of the oldest collections of writings in the world, and that can make it both exciting and intimidating. These writings come from an ancient culture that can seem foreign and sometimes strange or even uncomfortable. And yet in these writings we see people having experiences that seem familiar, and we recognize gospel themes that witness of the divinity of Jesus Christ and His gospel."
Some, ok actually most of the scriptures in the Old Testament are written in a language that can be hard to understand. That is why I loved going through the scriptures, highlighting them and then writing insights either in the margin of my paper scriptures or in the notes on my electronic ones.
The Old Testament is also home to my favorite set of scriptures of all times. Proverbs 3:5-6. I love these verses because as a human I can sometimes lean into my own understanding, but God's plan is so much better than my plan. So if I lean on him, he will direct me to what is best for me.

Come Follow Me is the perfect way for us to continue to develop our testimony. After all, it says right at the beginning of every Come Follow Me Manual, "The aim of all gospel learning and teaching is to deepen our conversion to Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ and help us become more like Them." These printables help me and my family so much that I plan to continue making them for 2023 and beyond!
