Both of those situations are out of my play book because I have tons of frames sitting in my closet. I was recently challenged to use my stash, so I decided to put one of those old frames to work by making a "Homemade" sign for Wall Decor
If you were to see my closet and all of the other stash places in my house, you would think I am a hoarder. But I don't call it hoarding, I call it collecting. And that collection comes in pretty handy when the right project comes along because I have all of the necessary supplies.
This is just such a project! I was challenged by a group I am in to make a project only using my stash. What they didn't realize is that I could open a store with how much stuff is in my stash. Picture me smiling really wide!
How to reuse an old frame for new HANDMADE sign wall decor
I searched through my stash and came up with an empty picture frame that was in pretty good shape. But I knew it could be better!
I removed the back from the frame, discarded the inside mat and back piece and set the glass aside. I spray painted the frame black.
I cut HOMEMADE on my die cut machine in black permanent vinyl (similar project here) and applied the vinyl directly to the glass from the frame.
I ran a bead of hot glue all the way around the inside lip of the frame. Then I replaced the glass and ran more glue all around the glass again.
And the new wall decor is done, as easy as that!
I used command velcro strips cut in half width wise to hold the frame on the wall. The new (old) light in my dining room spot lights the sign perfectly!
And is a great addition above my farmhouse shelving unit.
