Letters and words

I am drawn to typography. Letters and words make a graphic statement in decorating. All around my house I have vinyl words and quotes. And I have letters on display everywhere. I collect S for my last name and C for my first name. Here are some of the ways I have displayed my letter love.

This one is in the downstairs bathroom. Hopefully it helps remind my kids to wash their hands.

These are some of my collection of C's. They are displayed in my scrapbook room.

I saw this quote somewhere and had to have it. It is above my sink in the bathroom. It makes me smile almost every day.

This one is above the laundry doors.

This is one of my favorites. It's on the wall in the stairs. Hopefully it is a good reminder for everyone.

This quote is obviously in the kitchen, hanging above an old cash register drawer that holds pictures of friends and family.

This is my most favorite quote of all. Such a good reminder of how important our homes are. I love it! It is also by my favorite S, the red one, given to me by my friend Sandy.
There are tons of people on Etsy that do vinyl quotes. Here are a couple other ones: EAD Designs, Vinyl Touches I was lucky enough to have a friend make some mine for me. I also purchased some from the Quilted Bear in Utah. (when is it going to come to TN?) Most of the letters were purchased at the craft store and painted/distressed. Easy and inexpesive...my favorite kind of decorating. :)

Treasures

I was able to get out on Saturday and hit a few yard sales. It was so much fun. Of course it would have been more fun with a friend. Anyone want to go next weekend?

This cute, wooden "C" to go in my collection in my scrapbook room-$.25

This white lamp $2 -it will be painted and probably go in my living room

This cloche thing $1. I will paint the bottom.

I got this great Baby Trend jogging stoller for $7. I almost grabbed it and ran. What a score. The tired needed air (which the man at the sale put in for me) and it was dirty. After a shot with the hose, it's perfect. Yay!
I will be rehabbing the decorative pieces soon. Watch for the post to come.

Yard Sales

Oh how I love yard sales, flea markets and second hand stores. You know the saying- someone else's trash is your treasure. I definitely feel that way. I love the thrill of the hunt- the not knowing what you'll find until you get there. I love incorporating fun 'treasures' into my home decor. Browsing internet land, I found quite a few fun pictures, decorating with yard sale/flea market finds. (top 3 pictures are from BHG)

I love this crusty old cupboard turned on it's side to make a fun book shelf.

This old garden gate utensil holder/towel rack is great. I am filing this idea away for when I someday have a bigger kitchen.

This old window was turned into a shadow box. So cute!

This hutch is one of my favorite yard sale finds. It had a yellow crackle finish when I bought it for $30!!!!!!!!!!! I couldn't load it in the car fast enough. I took the doors off and painted it all black. I love it to display my white dishes and to store craft supplies for my kiddos.
I haven't done much yard saleing (yes, I just made that word up) this year. But I am hoping to get out there now that soccer season is over.
