Do you feel that?  Fall is in the air.  I mean at least I hope it is where you are.  It's still pretty warm here in TN, but the leaves are changing a little bit so I'm calling it Fall!

I've been hard at work filling my antique booths and my home with all the things for this season.  I love bringing in colorful orange pumpkins and all sorts of natural elements.  Today I'm sharing a tutorial for making DIY Witches Brooms.

How to Make Witches Brooms

This is an easy and inexpensive project, which are always my favorite kind of projects, to get you excited for Halloween.

Branches, corn husks and zip ties to make witch broom.

Supplies needed for DIY Witch Broom

You may have all or at least some of these supplies on hand already.  You will need:
Since I don't have any trees in my yard, I went for a little branch hunt at the park.  I walked around and grabbed branches that had already fallen.

Wrap corn husks around twigs to make witch broom.

Start by wrapping the corn husks all the way around one of the ends of the branch.  Keep going until none of the branch is visible.  Once you have the husks placed, use a zip tie to secure them.

Use a zip tie to secure raffia to the end of a branch.

If you are using raffia, it comes in longer pieces.  Grab a pile of raffia and fold it in half or thirds.  Place it around the end of the brand and secure it the same way with a zip tie.  Once the raffia is attached, you will then trim the raffia to give it the broom look.  Cut the end of the zip tie with scissors or wire cutters.

Cover zip tie on witches broom with jute twine.

Cover the zip tie with jute twine.  Just wrap it around and around the zip tie until it's covered.  Tie the jute in a knot or secure it with a dollop of hot glue.

And that's how easy it is to make these brooms.  I thought they would look super cute lined up in the window of one of my antique booths.

I was right, they do look cute!  And they have been very popular with the customers!

I made a little printable to go with the brooms.  You can get a copy here:  Hocus Pocus Broom Parking Free Printable  I hung it with a vintage clipboard.

I styled the witches brooms at my house with the printable and a cute stubby stem pumpkin on a stool.  I love this first look of Halloween with these DIY Witches Brooms.
