Easy Porch decor for Halloween.

Halloween decorating doesn't stop at the front door, it starts there!  This year I had the best time adding some spooky charm to my porch with a few simple and budget friendly touches that make a big impact.  You don't need a fog machine or a giant skeleton, although I wouldn't say no to either of them, just a few clever ideas and things you probably already have at home.

Lights

I think the biggest bang for your Halloween buck is lighting!  I normally am a fan of white lights, but at Halloween, it's orange all the way!

DIY lighted leaf garland.

I made my own lighted garland by combing orange garland lights with, well, a leaf garland.  It's as simple as wrapping the leaves around the garland.

I wanted it to be full so to go all the way across my porch I used 3 boxes of lights and 4 leaf garlands.  You can buy the items separately or buy them together.

The lights coordinate with my window lights and bats so well!  Do you peep that cute little creeper looking out the bottom right corner of my window?  Sweet Lizzie wants to be involved in everything!

Pumpkin buckets hanging on porch.

It was important to me that my porch look good during the day as well as at night when it's all lit up.  So I hung some retro inspired pumpkin pails from the porch ceiling.

They look cute and festive during the day and catch some of the light at night!

Mums

I am terrible at keeping my seasonal mums alive.  I just don't seem to be able to water them correctly so that they thrive.  This year I decided to go the faux mum route!

Swim noodle for holding faux mums in bucket.

I got a green swim noodle and a bunch of faux mum picks at the dollar store.  If you can't find them there, you can get the faux mums and noodles here.  Cut the noodles down to the size of the bucket you will put them in.  They are easy to cut with a pair of scissors or a knife.

Place faux mums into noodles to hold them.

Place each of the mum picks into the noodles.  Shove them all the way down and the leaves will cover the noodles.

I ended up placing the noodles into a pumpkin bucket that I found at a local antique store.

I placed a small strand of orange lights inside the pumpkin so it will light up at night!

Pumpkins

Pumpkins are a staple of any Halloween decor.  I have yet to buy my real pumpkins for carving but I had plenty of faux pumpkins to fill up my decor.

Pumpkins in a wire obelisk.

I thrifted this garden cage/obelisk during the summer.  It had been sitting in my garage for a while until it made its debut holding pumpkins.  I grabbed a ton from my stash and a few from the dollar store and filled the entire thing up.

Metal laser cut pumpkin.

I also found this metal pumpkin at the same antique store I found the pumpkin bucket.  It is laser cut from a piece of corrugated metal.  I love the way it looks just hanging on my porch ladder.

The last touch of my Halloween porch is the large planter full of brooms and branches.

I grabbed all of my twig brooms, some leaves, some fall florals and some dried cornstalks and placed them into the large planter right by my front door.  I topped it off with a handmade broom parking sign.

You don't need to go overboard to make your porch feel festive - sometimes it's the little details that make the biggest impact.  A few (or a lot of small ones) pumpkins, some orange lights and a dash of creativity are all it takes to bring Halloween spirit right to you doorstep.
