At the time of year, I love spending time outside in the garden, going for walks, feeling the breeze and generally enjoying the sunshine. I also really enjoy bringing the outdoors inside my home by adding Garden Theme Home Décor.
How to Put Together a Gardening Display in Home Décor
This vignette started with my newest project DIY Easy Wooden Shelf that hangs right inside my front door. It's the perfect spot to add bring the outdoors inside.
Floral Clipboard Collage
As I was considering what to put above the shelf, I decided to do a clipboard collage. Luckily for me, I have several vintage clipboards in my collection. You can get new ones here if you aren't a hoarder collector.
When it came to art, I thought about cutting up gardening books but decided to download floral ephemera printables from here, here and here. I printed them on white cardstock, clipped them to the boards and hung them on the wall with command velcro.
How to Make Flowers For Sale Sign
To make the wooden sign, I found a piece of wood in my garage from a previous project. It had screw holes, was already stained and had been painted at one point - or in other words, perfectly distressed already! I dusted off large letter stamps (similar here) that I've had since my scrapbook days, and stamped out F L O W E R S 4 S A L E with white craft paint. Once the paint dried, I distressed the wood even further by sanding.
How to Distress Terra Cotta Pots
On the shelf, I placed distressed clay pots. These were done in several ways. Some I painted with white paint then sanded. Others I left sitting outside in salty water until it evaporated, then sprayed with matte finish. (I think I need to do a post about this) And then others, I used this technique. I placed house plants into the pots, then placed book page shred in some.
I also placed some of my garden markers into the plants to add a little character.
I hung vintage garden tools from the shelf. On the table top, I stacked another one of my collections- vintage tackle boxes. I just looovvve the way they look stacked together. I also placed gardening books and a large bucket with fresh flowers.
This Gardening Display with Printable Floral Art is so great in Home Décor this time of year. It adds so much life with greenery and plants. And showcases a bunch of my vintage collections, which always makes me so happy.
