When I realized that July 4th was coming up so quickly, I didn't have time to make any new decorations like I normally would. So I pulled out the bin of red, white and blue decorations from my attic and got to work. With a little creativity and several items from my collection I was able to put together July 4th vignettes!

Barn Star Vignette
For this vignette sitting inside my front door, I hung a red barn star that I've had forever on top of white shutters. The fresh flowers I got for my anniversary look perfect right here.
Chalkboard Board and Batten Vignette
For the area behind my couch, I already had a chalkboard hanging between vintage windows, above the board and batten. I added a red, white and blue fabric banner similar to this lighted fabric banner to the top of the chalkboard. On the couch, I used the red check pillow covers made like this, paired with our every day black and white pillows.
Gray Cabinet Shelves Vignette
Every season I fill this gray cabinet in our living room with decorative treasures, especially vintage books, tool boxes and other items.
This vignette starts with a flag made with this this tutorial. I added some faux greenery to an enamelware cup. On the lower shelf I placed an antique wooden truck, holding a rustic star, on top of stacked patriotic books I've collected from the thrift store.
This is one of my favorite vignettes. The top shelf started with more thrift store patriotic books, ticket rolls, and a light up star. On the bottom shelf I stamped "Let Freedom Ring" on the spines of thrift store books, (letter stamps, black ink) which I then tied together with ribbon and a flag. I also used a mini watering can with some faux greenery.
On top of the gray cabinet, I stacked some toolboxes, with a jar of glitter stars and flags. In a vintage wire basket I placed my initial and a fabric star I bought years ago at a boutique.
Farmhouse Shelving Unit Vignette
On the shelving unit in our dining room, I filled the shelves with a vintage thermos and mini flags, a vintage art piece of strawberry shortcake, faux plants, a vintage Better Homes and Gardens cook book., and my BH&G cookbook that I use often (new copy here), and an old baking soda can that was my mom's. The bottom shelf holds my collection of wooden cutting boards and a blue mason jar.
I found that Strawberry shortcake art piece years ago in the thrift store and just found it while cleaning. It is so charming! I can't believe I haven't displayed it before now!
Open Kitchen Shelves Vignette
Last but not least, our open kitchen shelves are always a favorite place to put a few holiday touches. Blue mason jars are perfect filled with mini flags! They go so well with white dishes and vintage scales! I also filled my DIY 3 tier tray with various stars, a vintage bingo card, a faux plant and a printable.
With a little bit of creativity, you can decorate your home for the 4th of July holiday without spending a lot of money!
