Dude...it's already almost the middle of December. I am shocked at how quickly the month has absolutely flown by. I need at least 2 more weeks before Christmas. I still have much shopping and prep work to do before the 25th. But at least one thing is done, and that's my Christmas decor.
Christmas Decor Vintage Vignetes
Christmas Decor in the Kitchen
My kitchen isn't huge, so I just concentrate the decor in a few strategic places.
I used a faux evergreen garland (like this) with fairy lights that can be used with a remote control, around the window.
And vintage cans with faux trees (similar) in the window seal.
On our our Kitchen Shelves I placed my collection of vintage Santa mugs, in addition to a jar of candy, our every day white dishes, a vintage green scale and a collection of red and silver dishes. Underneath the shelves are our Repurposed Cake Pan tray, along with a jar of faux snow and faux gingerbread house.
Above the cabinets on the other side, I placed some greenery and more battery operated lights.
Christmas Decor in the Dining Room
As I have said a million times, this is the table we eat and do homework at every single day. That means everything that is placed on the table, cannot interfere with the function.
For the centerpiece, I added another layer to my farmhouse table centerpiece, by stacking a DIY black riser on top. Then I placed snow globe glass jars (diy instructions here), candles, candle holders and fresh greenery.
I like to place fresh greenery on our light fixture, as well as some shiny ornaments hanging from bakers twine.
I placed vintage screens above my mantel that I layered a DIY Christmas Tree sign on top. I used my collection of brass candlesticks with more of the colorful ornaments on top, accented by fresh greenery.
Christmas Decor in the Living Room
This year for our tree, I used many of our nostalgic tree decor:
- large and small glass ball ornaments in red
- glittery red initials representing each member of our family
- a red and white ball garland
- pics with red and green glittery balls
- family ornaments representing vacations and major family events
Near the tree is my favorite piece of furniture I own - my industrial tool cabinet. On top of the cabinet is a set of white shutters, a DIY reclaimed wood shelf, my Santa collection, a few faux trees and a vintage Santa Stop Here sign.
Behind our oh so comfy couch, above the board and batten I placed a glittery faux garland (similar), 3 faux wreaths (one decorated with dried eucalyptus) tied with ribbon and our stockings.
On the other side of the room is the beast - aka gray cabinet that weighs a million pounds and that practically gave me a slipped disc when I moved it from the other side of the room. Anyway, this was a super fun place to decorate. I used:
- a tray (that is a repurposed red wagon) full of mini trees (similar) and greenery
- bottle brush trees, vintage cars (that my husband played with as a child) decorated with mini trees
- vintage children's books and glass Santa vases full of ornaments
- our Christmas Countdown Blocks
- lots and lots of books because I love the way they look on the bottom shelf of the beast!
The last spot I'll show you celebrates the reason for the season - Christ's birth. I placed a vintage window on the table with various snowflakes hanging in front. I have a DIY sign, a table riser and 2 simple nativities that I love. But it's been a tradition for the last 16+ years to have the Little People Nativity set up. My teens love to push the angel down as they walk by to have it play Away in a Manger. I think I will always love the LP nativity.
Thank you for visiting my home to see my Vintage Christmas Decor Vignettes. I had such a wonderful time setting it up and I love inviting you into my home!
