Washi Tape Clothespins

I love clothespins and use them all over my house.

I use them on my chicken wire message boards
in my craft room and on my message board in my kitchen.

Well, all of those clothespins were plain.
And sad.  And naked.
And that just won't do.

So I took those naked clothespins and dressed them up.

I started with medium and large sized
clothespins that I got at my craft store.

And some of my stash of washi tape,
also purchased at my local craft store.

All I did was stick the tape on the clothespin...

and cut the excess off with an exacto knife.

Super easy and super cute!!

With all of the different washi tapes available,
you can make a variety of clothespins.

How to create the perfect Graduation Table Centerpieces

Are you throwing a graduation party and looking for easy table decorations?  Don't worry, I got you!  I have an idea for super easy Graduation Table Centerpieces!

How to make easy and inexpensive Graduation Table Centerpieces

Chore chart frame

My kids have started a brand new school year, with many changes!
After a summer of no schedule and no routine I, for one, welcomed the change.
Along with changing grades and teachers, we've also updated and changed our chore chart.

We had our old one for quite a few years.  It was working fine still, but we
were looking for something new.

I separated the chores to be done into daily and weekly chores in 3 different zones
of our house: living room, bathrooms and kitchen (not pictured).

To make the chore chart I used:
an 11 x 14 frame
kraft with white polka dot wrapping paper
3 large clothespins
3 small wooden squares, painted with chalk paint
chalk pen
glue gun

I put the wrapping paper into the picture frame.
Then I hot glued the clothespins to the front of the frame on the glass.
Then I hot glued the chalkboard squares and wrote my kids' initials with a chalk pen.
I printed out the jobs for each zone and clipped it to the appropriate child's pin.
We will rotate zones each week.

My kids will earn an allowance according to how they keep up with their zones.
We also wanted a way for them to earn extra money.  So we did a 'chores for hire' board.
I stapled some ribbon to the back of a long frame.
Now I have a place to clip up some extra jobs and how much each job is worth.

We are still in the first week of trying our new system.  But so far it is working pretty well!

My kids are sick.  Like way sick.  The littlest started throwing up on Thursday.  Lovely.  The bigs thought it looked like fun and joined in at 3:00am on Sunday.  Even lovelier!  All 3 of them are still sick.  So in between my laundry doing and carpet scrubbing I decided to do a little something for myself.  For my sanity.

It all started with this little beauty I picked up at Goodwill.

Fall Bucket List Banner

It's the best time of the year... FALL!  After the heat of the summer, Fall is such a fun time to look forward to all of the activities!

I made a Fall Bucket List Banner to keep track of everything we're looking forward to!

getting crafty

My son's school is having a Spring Fling this weekend.  I took a big leap and signed up as a vendor to sell "She's Crafty" craft stuff.  I've done a small vendor fair with some friends but this is the first time I'm doing the entire thing by myself.  I'm a smidge nervous but SUPER excited too!

Here are some of my items:

I have pedestals in a few different colors.  These would be so great for display, or to hold fruit or candy!

Chalkboards of all shapes, sizes and colors.

Chicken Wire Message boards in lots of sizes and different colors.  And the washi clothespins would go great with these!!

And I'll have lot of different wood art.

Including my fave arrow art, and so much more!!!

So if any local people would like to come I'd love to have you stop by!  There will be vendor booths, lots of fun things for kids to do like a dunking booth and inflatables and of course there will be food!  Plus, it's all for a good cause- the awesome pre-school that my kids have all gone to!!!

The Spring Fling will be held Saturday May 25, from 10am-3pm.
at the First Presbyterian Church of Smyrna

4th of July burlap wreath

Today I'm sharing how I updated my burlap wreath

to reflect the 4th of July!

I started with my spring wreath.
I removed all of the butterflies and the S.
Since I used hot glue to attach the felt butterflies to the clothespins, I was able
to pull the felt off to reuse the clothespins.

I picked up some glittery stars at Hobby Lobby.

(all July 4 items were 40% off)

Then I just hot glued the glittery Styrofoam stars onto clothes pins,
and clipped them onto the burlap wreath.

I tied a few ribbons onto a star from my stash.
(I think I picked the star up at Home Goods a couple of years back)

Then I tied some burlap ribbon around the top to hang the wreath.

Happy 4th of July!

New Home Decor Ideas for Vintage Goods

If you've been here for any time at all, you know that I love all things vintage.  I especially love the collecting vintage pieces.  Since I have a rather large collection, I love to find new ways to use them.  So I put together a bunch of New Home Decor Ideas for Vintage Goods.

Teacher gifts part II

For my big kid's teacher's gifts, I did a take on the large chicken wire message boards I recently did in my craft room.

table top chicken wire message boards

I used 8x10 picture frames with chicken wire stapled to the back.

Once the chicken wire was attached, I spray painted the entire thing.

For the white one, the staples from the chicken wire were showing through so I hot glued white ribbon to cover them up.  I love the way it turned out.

On the black one, the sharp wire edges were hanging out so I hot glued ribbon to cover them up.  I think it adds a nice finished touch.

Then I used regular clothespins (with book pages deco-pauged to the top) to hold a gift card.

I bought these easels at Hobby Lobby to hold the message boards.

Hopefully the teachers will like them.  At least they'll like the gift cards anyway!  :)

Valentine's- Apothecary Jar stuffs

How about a little Valentine apothecary jar filler stuff?

Starting with paper hearts.

They are super simple.  You need:  PAPER, a trimmer, glue and some clothespins to hold the hearts while the glue dries.

1.  cut a piece of paper into 1 inch by 6 inch strips and fold in half
2.  put a little bit of glue on one of the top outside ends
3. bring the 2 outside ends together to the inside
4.  clamp it together with a clothespin until the glue dries

In addition to the red and white paper I used dictionary paper.  And filled in with red Styrofoam glittery hearts.

There are conversation hearts in the other jar.  Love the way they look.  Good thing they don't taste very good so they aren't tempting to eat.
